(July 17) Capital District Junior Islanders prevail over Summerside Chevy’s 9-2

Chris MacDougall was the winning pitcher for Capital Junior Islanders in a 9-2 win over Summerside Chevy’s at Memorial Field on July 20.

MacDougall surrendered two runs on six hits over six and two-thirds innings, striking out three. Noah Duckworth threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Parker “Lefty” Gallant took the loss for Summerside allowing five hits and six runs over four innings, striking out three.

Caleb Waugh and MacDougall each managed two hits to lead Capital District. Jaden Hogg led the Chevy’s with two hits in two at bats.

(July 18) Stratford A’s beat Summerside Chevy’s 10-2

Summerside Chevy’s lost the lead late in a 10-2 defeat to Stratford A’s on July 18.

Ethan Smith got the win for Stratford. The righty went six and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on eight hits and striking out 12 – a league single game record.

Owen Lynch took the loss for Summerside. The hurler surrendered seven runs on five hits over five innings, striking out five.

Summerside tallied nine hits. Garrett Culleton and Kendall Burns each had multiple hits for the Chevy’s

Stratford racked up nine hits on the day. Smith and Chase Gaudette each collected multiple hits for Stratford.

(July 20) Capital District Junior Islanders beat Stratford A’s 10-4

Stratford A’s stayed in it until the end, but the Capital District Junior Islanders pulled away late in a 10-4 victory on July 20.

Right-hander Jordan Mahar picked up the win, allowing four hits and one run over three innings. Two-time playoff MVP, Gabe Penelver, threw four innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Joel MacEachern took the loss for Stratford. The righty lasted five and two-thirds innings, allowing five hits and six runs while striking out nine.

Capital District took the lead in the second inning on a Mahar RBI single. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Stratford tied things up at two when Sam MacKenzie singled scoring the tying run.

Capital District scored four runs in the seventh inning thanks to singles by Chris MacDougall and Nolan Ryan and a walk by Landon MacCallum.

Tyson Laybolt, Tyler Taylor, and Chase Gaudette all managed multiple hits for Stratford.

Outfielder Nolan Ryan went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Capital District in hits.
